Al Markaz ul Islami is a community hub which offers support to the local community in and around Bradford. The project was established in August 2010 (Ramadhan 1431) to serve and cater for the religious, educational, and social welfare needs of the local Muslim community in Bradford. Al Markaz ul Islami serves as a Hub from which the community can access education, both secular and spiritual as well as other beneficial facilities that are locally and easily accessible t o many. In less than two years Al Markaz ul Islami has launched various projects and continues to develop more services.
- To promote Islam in line with the Qur’an and Sunnah, with belief in the finality of the Prophethood of Muhammad ﷺ, through daily, Friday, Eid prayers, and key Islamic activities.
Shaykh Mufti Qazi Hassan Raza
Al-Markaz-ul-Islami is under the guidance of Shaykh Mufti Qazi Hassan Raza who is a prominent and honourable scholar, striving to educate the Muslim Ummah within England. He is highly qualified in various Islamic sciences such as tafseer, fiqh, aqaid, ahadiths and Arabic grammar. He is well-known throughout England and Pakistan, as he is considered a “scholars’ scholar” since many of his students are actually considered scholars in their own right.
He has established various organizations in England, namely a masjid (AlMarkaz Ul-Islami), a charity (Save the Mother’s Trust), AlMarkaz Drummond Road Campus for the teaching of children in the basics of Islam, an Islamic library, a youth club and Islamic consultancy. He also manages 35 educational institutes in Pakistan and has supported various global causes, both educational and humanitarian. Despite having accomplished many feats in his life, he still yearns to create further services and facilities to cater for the Muslim community, to ensure they develop and maintain a strong bond with Allah and His Messenger. His desire is to see the next generation of Muslims within England confidently study, practise and propagate the faith of Islam.
Why Choose AlMarkaz Ul Islami?
Our Invaluable Experience of Teaching Islamic Classical Texts to Adults
The institute provides an ideal opportunity for students to learn the Qur’an and Sunnah as well as allowing them to develop their own character according to the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him). Classes take place seven days a week for students of all levels ranging from the basic study of the Arabic language to advanced Islamic jurisprudence. The Institute is led b y Shaykh Mufti Qazi Hassan Raza who is recognised as one of the most senior scholars and teachers of Quran and Tafseer, Hadith, Usool-Ul-Fiqh, Arabic grammar, Tassawuf and Interfaith Dialogue.
Combining Knowledge with Spiritual Development
Spiritual development is the ultimate goal. There is a great focus on the students self development in terms of good Islamic character, morals and sincerity in worship, which comes hand in hand as the student progresses in knowledge. Traditional methodologies help to promote personal development. The student is also encouraged to participate in other Almarkaz activities with the objective of developing oneself spiritually.
Delivering Lessons through Arabic/English and Urdu Mediums
Almarkaz has developed Islamic Law and Traditional Studies courses for solely English speaking students. These courses are designed in modular format for reasons of flexibility and are all delivered in English and Arabic. There is also an option for these students to join the full-time course by supplementing their course structure with ‘transitional Urdu Modules.
Almarkaz delivers the part-time Traditional Dars-e-Nizami course in Arabic and English and has done so since its initiation. The part-time course in English follows the same structure as the well-known Islamic institutes in the UK. We continue to deliver this course in Arabic/ English for several reasons outlined below:
The student will master 3 languages in Islamic education and will therefore have a greater access to Islamic literature. Students appreciate this concept more so when they begin to advance in their academic years because contemporary Islamic Knowledge and commentary of classical books are preserved in languages other than just Arabic.
The student will be able to communicate/understand lectures as well as written efforts of some of the most senior and most knowledgeable scholars in England as well as abroad.
Our Vision
To bring the light (NOOR) of true Islamic Knowledge to all, through the medium of traditional learning, publications and audio mediums to empower Muslims in becoming active Muslim citizens through positive and healthy spiritual, ethical, psychological, physical and academic values according to Islamic sources.
